Here are the steps you must follow to be successful in earning your drivers license.

Below is a list of the 8 steps you must accomplish to make your trip to the DMV a successful one.

There are two courses minors must complete to earn their license, driver education (classroom), and driver training (behind-the-wheel).

1) Complete driver education.  Konocti has an online course that meets the DMV requirements.  Click here to enroll in driver Education.  You will receive a completion form from the school.  (Blue or Pink form)

2) Enroll in driver training.  You can enroll with Konocti School of Driving.  Click here for driver training with Konocti School of Driving.  I will sent the correct form to you.  (White form)

3) Schedule a written test appointment with the DMV.  To do this click here for the DMV link

or call the DMV at 1-800-777-0133

4) Fill-out and sign the DMV application form 44 (at the DMV office).

5) Bring an acceptable birth date/legal presence document (birth certificate).  **This must be a certified copy**

6) Bring the ‘blue’ DMV “CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION OF CLASSROOM DRIVER EDUCATION” (form OL 237).

YOU RECEIVED THIS FORM FROM YOUR CLASSROOM DRIVING SCHOOL

7) Bring the ‘white’ “CERTIFICATE OF ENROLLMENT IN DRIVER TRAINING” (form OL 392).

YOU MAY OBTAIN THE ‘CERTIFICATE OF ENROLLMENT’ FORM FROM KONOCTI SCHOOL OF DRIVING

*You may walk into the DMV for your written test or you may schedule an appointment for your test.*

Driver training, through Konocti School of Driving,

costs $300 and consists of 3-two hour sessions.

I will not deposit this check until we start driver training.

8) Bring the application fee ($28).

Remember: Before going to the DMV:

1) Walk-in or DMV appointment, 2) application, 3) birth certificate, 4) ‘blue or pink’ DMV form, 5) ’white’ DMV form, and 6) $28.

After passing the written DMV test, your son/daughter will receive a provisional permit. This provisional permit is NOT valid until they start their behind-the-wheel driver training (pg 54 DMV book). After their first driving lesson with a driving instructor, you may begin with the 50 hours of supervised driving practice required, including 10 hours of night driving.
